The European Basic Skills Network (EBSN) is glad to announce that the first open education resource unit of its Capacity Building Series is being published on 15 February 2019 on EPALE. The current thematic unit titled ‘Integrated Basic Skills Policy’ focuses on the policy level of basic skills provision.
EBSN’s Capacity Building Series
The EBSN Capacity Building Series on EPALE aims to contribute to raising the level of knowledge and understanding of stakeholders in those EU countries that are planning to implement Upskilling Pathways in their national systems. The series consist of units built as open educational resources (OERs) supporting primarily policy-makers in the adult learning sector at local, regional and national level, as well as those working in European institutions active in the field.
EBSN CBS Open Education Resource on Integrated Basic Skills Policy
As announced earlier, EBSN launched its first unit on basic skills and vocational education and training as a pilot version to the Capacity Building Series. The current OER stresses the importance of coherent policy mechanisms. It aims to support policy-makers and other stakeholders by giving insights into the followings:
- an overview on the European policy context for Upskilling Pathways (European and national),
- the importance defining basic skills,
- expert content in creating and facilitating policy procedures and schemes nationally,
- country-specific examples to practices in integrated basic skills policies,
- a curated list of further resources.
The unit aims to provide its users with a comprehensive overview of the field and, therefore, presents a variety of reviewed resources e.g. significant websites for policy initiatives and stakeholder organisations, working group and expert reports with a special emphasis on country-relevant information, studies, written and video interviews with experts, etc.
In 2019, as the continuation of the Capacity Building Series, EBSN is publishing four additional units on EPALE. The forthcoming unit, currently being developed, deals with the role of inclusion in the digital world.
Stay alert for the completed OER on Integrated Basic Skills Policy on 15 February 2019!
