Dear Readers,

In the first EBSN Newsletter of the year we would like to share news with you about the most recent and upcoming activities of the EBSN community. One of the major projects of the EBSN this year is the new Capacity Building Series on EPALE. It aims to contribute to raising the level of knowledge and understanding of stakeholders in those EU countries that are planning to implement Upskilling Pathways in their national systems. The series will consist of units built as open educational resources (OERs) supporting primarily policy makers in the adult learning sector, at local, regional and national level, as well as those working in European institutions active in the field.

As part of this Capacity Building Series the first pilot OER was launched in December and is now available on EPALE.

Capacity Building Series on EPALE: Basic Skills in VET

In December 2017 EBSN launched its first pilot unit in the framework of the new EBSN Capacity Building Series on EPALE.

The topic of this pilot OER is Basic Skills in VET. The unit contains videos, blogs and a thematic collection of relevant resources available on EPALE in the theme of Basic Skills in VET.

We are looking forward to your comments and suggestions on the relevance, format and the content of this first pilot unit. Your feedback is a major source for improvement of these outputs, so please share your opinion and ideas with the EBSN Secretariat in an e-mail to the following e-mail address: secretariat@basicskills.eu

New EBSN Online discussion on EPALE: Social Media in Adult Learning

26–27 February 2018

As part of EPALE's February focus on Social Media, the EBSN will hold a two-day online discussion focusing on the use of Social Media in our field of work.

This online event is open to everyone and will start at 12 a.m. CET on Monday, February 26 and its moderation will end on Tuesday, February 27 at 17 p.m. The discussion will be moderated by EBSN Secretary General Graciela Sbertoli. We are interested in the use of Social Media both as an arena for the creation of successful communities of practice among adult learning stakeholders and as a learning tool which can become a vital component in basic skills training courses. As always, we strongly build on the participation and contribution of the EBSN members!

In preparation for the discussion we recommend that you read the blog articles and check resources already published on EPALE. You can access all these materials on the landing page of the discussion here.
